At First Eye Care we provide our patients with the B-Scan ophthalmic ultrasound eye test. This ultrasound eye exam is available to residents of Southwest Dallas at our optometry clinic.
B-scan testing requires contact with the eye or eyelids. If necessary, eyedrops that numb the cornea for a few minutes can be used during the procedure. We use B-scan testing for several reasons, most commonly for patients with cataracts and possible retinal detachments.
B-scan ophthalmic ultrasound may be indicated in any of the following clinical situations
- cataract
- corneal opacity
- diabetic retinopathy
- optic nerve disease
- posterior ocular inflammation
- vitreous degeneration or detachment
- retinal detachment
- neoplasm of the eye
- significant injury to the eye
