Anterior Segment Imaging

Scanning lasers are non-contact instuments that utilize low-power laser energy to image the physical features of the anterior segment of the eye.

Anterior segment imaging may also be performed with ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) technology.


Anterior segment imaging may be indicated in the following situations


  • corneal edema
  • corneal dystrophies
  • keratoconus
  • contact lens treatment
  • glaucoma
  • glaucoma suspect
  • cataracts
  • eye injury
